Water is the life giving resource that every community needs. Without it, sickness and disease multiply unchecked.
LAM has been providing food to fill hungry bellies since its inception in 2003. Now we are ready to begin offering not only a nourishing meal, but also a drink of water. The impact of fresh water is undeniable.
300,000 children under five years old die annually from a waterborne illness. That’s about 10 per minute. That means that in the time it takes you to read this information, (4 minutes) 40 children, under five years old, will have died simply because they drank water from a polluted source. Water opens the door for the gospel like nothing else. Even Jesus used a well as a focal point when talking to the Samaritan woman.
Believing it is better to join someone else's effort rather than recreate the wheel, in the summer of 2022, LAM entered into partnership with long time well-drillers, Agua Resources. Over the course of 25 years they have successfully drilled and maintained over 600 wells, supplying clean drinking water to thousands in the Atoyac de Alvarez region, about 2 hours north of Acapulco, Mexico.
LAM hit the ground running by paying for 9 new wells in our first 6 months of this partnership which began in June of 2022.
Not only is it important to drill new wells, but there is the importance of the continued maintenance of existing wells.
